Preemie Powered Celebrations
November 17 is World Prematurity Day. It is a chance to honour the 29,000 babies across Canada who are born early each year.
In Calgary, one in every eight babies born is admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU). This means there are approximately 2400 admissions to the city’s five NICUs each year. Alberta has highest preterm birth rate in Canada.
Here are some of the ways donations have made a big difference to the tiniest of patients in 2014:

Today the Calgary chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is celebrating our city’s donors, volunteers, foundations, leaders, corporations, and all others engaged in philanthropy.
As a lead up to this point, Calgary Health Trust has honoured some of the incredible individuals, organizations and community groups that ensure health care in Calgary remains world-class.
Today we are highlighting our nominee and winner of the Doc Seaman Individual Philanthropist Award, Nicki Perkins.
