The Pain Diaries

The Pain Diaries came to a successful close after nine outstanding performances at Theatre Junction GRAND. Thank you to everyone who supported the event and local chronic pain programs through donations, ticket purchases, volunteer efforts and more.

This unique production educated and entertained while exploring the nature of chronic pain and connecting individual audience members to the stories of patients living with chronic pain.

Inspiration for The Pain Diaries came from Deborah Nicholson, event chair and author of the Kate Carpenter Mystery Series. After working at the Calgary Chronic Care Centre and hearing about the experiences of a number of patients, Deborah felt there was a larger story to be told about the trials and triumphs of chronic pain and the steps many patients take to rebuild their lives.

The Pain Diaries evolved from a written piece to a theatrical production by means of a local coalition of artists. Further touring for the play is being discussed, along with the possibility of producing a video for distance education, corporate and community outreach purposes.
