Thank you to everyone who supported the Calgary Health Trust’s Inaugural Kinnear Classic on June 21, 2010 through participation, sponsorship, donations, and volunteerism.
Promotions for this year’s tournament kicked off when the event committee secured 18-time Major Champion winner and golf legend Gary Player as a special guest. Gary was joined by Wayne Player, David Frost, Lisa “Longball” Vlooswyk, and a number of Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games athletes.
Sunday’s sponsor reception held on June 20 welcomed our Minister of Health and Wellness Honourable Gene Zwozdesky who announced that the new Emergency Department at Rockyview General Hospital would be named after lead sponsor and tournament host Jim Kinnear. |
On the day of the event golfers were treated to warm weather and a full schedule at the Glencoe Golf & Country Club. After a clinic with Gary Player, everyone set out for a day of camaraderie and strong competition. Prizes were awarded at the end of the evening program which among other things featured a delicious meal, rousing live auction and a thrilling performance by the Canadian Tenors.
The Inaugural Kinnear Classic achieved outstanding success continuing the tradition of the Rockyview Invitational golf tournament and raising significant funds for the Southern Alberta Institute of Urology. Sponsors are already securing their support for next year’s tournament which will celebrate 20 years of fundraising for Rockyview General Hospital.
